Des dieux et des hommes
A leather binding of Algirdas Julien Greimas “Des dieux et des hommes. Études de mythologie lithuanienne” (PUF, Paris, 1985).
A semiotic square is a fundamental tool for semiotic analysis formulated by a famous semiotician A. J. Greimas. In his study of structure of myth a hero is always a crucial figure for cultural transformation and communication between terrestrial and celestial spheres.
A geometric combination of grey shagreen leather, embedded blue, crimson and white elements represents this narrative dynamics. Handmade prints of linocut are used for the endpapers.
The book will appear in the catalogue of the Designer Bookbinders International Bookbinding Competition 2017.
It is worth to mention that 2017 was also the year of Greimas.
